Proposal RB316-22: Hemp-lime Construction

The United States Hemp Building Foundation (USHBF), Mpactful Ventures, and a small group of experts worked together to spearhead the submission of Hemp-lime as a building material to the International Code Council (ICC) for inclusion in the International Residential Code (IRC). The work ran from September 2021 to January 2022. In September 2022 final approval was granted at the ICC Public Comment Hearing. Hemp-lime construction will be included in the next published edition of the IRC.

The USHBF is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation run by the United States Hemp Building Association (USHBA). The goal of the organization is to advance the hemp building industry.

Mpactful Ventures provided the USHBA a grant to cover the initial costs of the submission.
